Blessing #118: The freedom to....

I went on a bike ride to Lucky Peak Dam today after work to enjoy our beautiful day.  A few miles from home I passed a guy about my age standing with his bike between his legs, doing something on his phone.

In my imagination he was texting his wife to confirm when he'd be home for dinner.

Of course, I have no idea what he was doing, but I realized with gratitude instead of bitterness, that because I am single and without children, I have no such restrictions.

I thought about my day after work today I had:
  • Intended to go to the gym
  • Realized I forgot my gym bad
  • Made a new plan to go to the coffee shop to do work
  • Implemented said plan
  • Stayed at Java until 5:15
  • Gone home
  • Made a PB & J for dinner in about 14 minutes
  • Gone on a bike ride that could take as long as I wanted it to take
  • Not needed to check in with anyone on my whereabouts
  • Not had to consult with anyone before I chose any of this.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that one day I don't want to be standing on the Greenbelt texting someone that I'll be home for dinner in an hour or so, but for today I am grateful that in my life today, I have tremendous freedom to do basically whatever my heart desires.
